How did the Italian press react to the Ferrari drama in Bahrain? - GPblog.com

When Ferrari isn't winning in Formula 1, the Italian press always gets on their backs. However, this time, they've played it cool and`focused on the positive performance from youngster Charles Leclerc.

Leclerc, 21, was on his way to winning his first Formula 1 race until his power started to fade. The SF90 looked strong all weekend, and Leclerc topped most of the timesheets.

La Gazzetta Dello Sport: “Throwing away the Bahrain GP in that way would not have been allowed. Charles Leclerc is very strong and the SF90 is fast. Compared to 2018, however, two victories are now missing. The engine worries and Sebastian Vettel sees ghosts again ... Leclerc still gives reasons to laugh, the Monegasque confirms in two races on behalf of Ferrari that he has the talent and the willpower."

La Stampa: “A pole, overtaking his teammate and then the downfall: Leclerc had to postpone his very first victory because the engine did not allow it. Vettel became nervous in the duel with Hamilton and spun. The German picked up the thread again, but lost his front wing moments later and had to go into the pit stop."

Repubblica: “The youngest polesitter from Ferrari (21 years old) was betrayed by his car just before the end and therefore missed the win. Vettel managed to catch up with his teammate at the start, but still had to give that place to the unleashed Monegasque, he lost the focus (and his wing) after pressure from Hamilton and was forced to dive into the pits and back from P8 to P5 fight. Mercedes then again benefited from the breakdown at Ferrari."
